How Long Will It Take?
The day you get your braces on will be filled with new information, feelings, and best of all, the start of a new smile! You should expect an appointment ranging from 60 to 80 minutes. At this appointment, we will bond braces or any appliances needed, and talk about your treatment and oral hygiene.
Will I Know What To Do?
Oral hygiene will be different with braces on. We love to educate our patients on proper brushing and flossing techniques and you will be given a complimentary brushing kit, which includes an electric toothbrush and an original Ward + Campbell Orthodontics designer T-shirt!
Will It Hurt?
Your mouth will not be used to all this “newness” so you might experience some soreness. Most pain can be managed easily with over-the-counter pain-killers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen. You may have some tenderness on the inside of your cheeks and lips as they are getting used to the new brackets. Your complimentary brushing kit will include wax that can be applied to the brackets to help protect your cheeks and lips until they are used to the friction.
What Else Can I Expect?
The last thing you should expect is a lot of compliments on your new braces! We believe it’s very important for you to commit to good hygiene and to follow all your treatment tips and tricks (like wearing your elastics and eating braces-friendly foods). As Doctor Ward says:
